To promote excellence in political methodology and recognize outstanding scholarship, the Society confers awards. The Board of Directors appoints an Awards Committee as needed to review nominations and select recipients. Awards are presented at the Annual Meeting.

The Awards Committee is currently chaired by David Armstrong (Western University).

Best Graduate Paper Award

This award recognizes outstanding research in political methodology by a graduate student.

Eligibility: The paper must have been written by a student currently enrolled in a graduate program (or who graduated within the past twelve months). It must have been presented at the Society’s Annual Meeting, or published or accepted for publication during the preceding calendar year. Co-authored papers are eligible if all authors were graduate students when the paper was written.

Selection: The Awards Committee evaluates submissions on methodological rigor, originality, and potential contribution to the discipline.

Lifetime Contribution to Canadian Political Methodology Award

This award recognizes a scholar who has made a sustained and profound impact on political methodology in Canada. One award is typically given each year.

Eligibility: Nominees should be senior scholars whose careers show a long-standing commitment to advancing political methodology. Contributions may include major methodological innovations, a significant body of applied methodological research, extensive mentorship of graduate students, or building methodological training infrastructure in Canada.

Nomination and selection: Any member in good standing may submit a nomination. The Awards Committee reviews nominations and recommends a recipient to the Executive Committee for final approval.

Afin de promouvoir l’excellence en méthodologie politique et de reconnaître des travaux exceptionnels, la Société décerne des prix. Au besoin, le conseil d’administration nomme un comité des prix chargé d’examiner les candidatures et de choisir les lauréats. Les prix sont remis lors de la rencontre annuelle.

Le comité des prix est actuellement présidé par David Armstrong (Université Western).

Prix du meilleur article étudiant (cycles supérieurs)

Ce prix souligne une recherche exceptionnelle en méthodologie politique réalisée par une étudiante ou un étudiant des cycles supérieurs.

Admissibilité : L’article doit avoir été rédigé par une personne inscrite à un programme d’études supérieures (ou diplômée depuis moins de douze mois). Il doit avoir été présenté à la rencontre annuelle de la Société, ou publié ou accepté pour publication au cours de l’année civile précédente. Les articles rédigés en collaboration sont admissibles si tous les auteurs étaient aux études supérieures au moment de la rédaction.

Sélection : Le comité des prix évalue les propositions selon la rigueur méthodologique, l’originalité et la contribution potentielle à la discipline.

Lauréats

Prix de carrière pour la contribution à la méthodologie politique canadienne

Ce prix rend hommage à une chercheuse ou un chercheur dont l’apport à la méthodologie politique au Canada est soutenu et marquant. Un prix est habituellement décerné chaque année.

Admissibilité : Les candidatures visent des chercheurs chevronnés dont la carrière témoigne d’un engagement de longue date envers l’avancement de la méthodologie politique. Les contributions peuvent comprendre des innovations méthodologiques majeures, un corpus important de recherche méthodologique appliquée, un mentorat soutenu auprès d’étudiants des cycles supérieurs ou la mise en place d’infrastructures de formation méthodologique au Canada.

Mise en candidature et sélection : Tout membre en règle peut soumettre une candidature. Le comité des prix examine les candidatures et recommande une lauréate ou un lauréat au comité exécutif, qui rend la décision finale.
